9 Whole Years

Happy Anniversary to us! It’s been 9 years since we walked down the aisle. Just a pair of crazy 19 year olds thinking they know about life and what not. (And you aren’t allowed to judge my wedding because it happened pre-pinterest and in 4 months.)

We are pretty traditional when it comes to wedding gifts around here if you remember last year and our gold (in the place of bronze) flatware purchase. The 9th anniversary is pottery. Easy enough for a decor loving couple.

First we checked out Jonathan Adler because hello we were looking for pottery! These hipster head vases are amazing. They are only $38 too. Of course they are tiny hence the price, but aren’t they adorable? I think I’ll get them one day, but they are a purchase that doesn’t require a special occasion. You only get one 9th anniversary might as well go big.

Of course there’s the infamous Oh Joy vases from Floral Art. This Mr. & Mrs. are $300 and average vase size. Surprise this is what we bought for ourselves. We’ve been wanting them for a long time and a 9th anniversary seems like as good a time as any.

As far as celebrating is concerned, we have a hot date at Spoon in Dallas. (Stalk us on instagram Friday for a sneak peek of the meal.) I don’t know if anyone watched Top Chef last season, but John Tesar is the chef there. I’m going to send my food back just to see what happens. Just kidding. I wouldn’t dare.

So happy anniversary love! Here’s to the next 9 years. I think I will go the modern route for gifts next year because it’s diamond jewelry. It sounds way more promising than the traditional tin.

Haha so true! It’s the constant worry you have with kids I think we age a year every few days! Also the lack of sleep and general up keep! Oh goodness. 10 is a big one! Can’t wait to see how y’all celebrate!

  2. Happy anniversary!

(the 10th is tin AND aluminum. We bought bikes for ours :))

What a clever gift! Maybe Nick can get a bike. I’m incredibly afraid of them. Mainly because I’m irrational and have weird fears! I keep thinking maybe when my kids get old enough I’ll get over it.

  3. Congrats and happy anniversary! What a beautiful bride!

  4. Love that gift. What a great idea! They are beautiful as are you as your nine-years-ago selves :) I can’t unsee the Hanks either now haha:)

Happy anniversary to both of you!!!

Bahaha isn’t that so funny! Can’t wait to get Nick’s reaction on that! Thanks Katja. I can’t wait to get the vases in and attempt some succulents in them!

  5. That pottery is bomb! I love it.

    Happy anniversary love birds :)

    • Amber says:

Thanks! I wish we had awesome wedding pictures like y’all. Maybe we should have a redo!

      • I sometimes think I should do that. I don’t even have a picture like yours…

        • Amber says:

It’s a daily thought I have! I said I would have a redo at 10 years. I did not expect it to get here so quickly. I don’t actually want to do the whole wedding thing, but maybe just get all wedding looking and get pictures! Let’s do it!

  6. Happy Anniversary you two! Love the gift you got each other :)

  8. Happy anniversary!!! YAY for 9 years! And those head vases ARE SO AMAAAAAZING!! OMG. I’m dying.

  9. Happy anniversary!!! I’m impressed with your gifts. We’re lucky if we even remember the day. Seriously. It’s bad. Probably because I’m horrible with dates and Nate is a dude. LOVE the gift you all chose!

Thank you! Well it helps that it’s exactly 3 weeks from Nick’s birthday! It’s a nice warning that we better start thinking about celebrating another year of marriage.
