Simple Christmas Tablescape

Simple Christmas Tablescape

As promised our Christmas tablescape! I wanted something super simple to fit in with the whole minimalistic vibe I’m throwing down in the dining room. Also this is our first Christmas in the new house, so I don’t feel like I need to shake up the Christmas decor too much. Might as well reuse what we have since the space is new, right?

I started with a plaid IKEA tablecloth that we’ve had for a few years. Then a single runner of garland down the middle to add some greenery. Add some ornaments for good measure.

I reused a few of my book page ornaments.

Willard was a little unsure about things until I added the brass deer. He’s real opinionated like that. Also how incredible is our light fixture in there? Very.

My DIY hand stitched (still patting myself on the back for that one) napkins with a little twig from a neighborhood tree are a simple and inexpensive. I made the twig look as much like a Christmas tree as possible. Some of them turned out more like a Charlie Brown tree, but the effort is there.

I don’t know what we would do without west elm’s organic gold rimmed plates. So classic and gorgeous along with our One Kings Lane flatware.

Cassie reminded me that I need to explain the chair change up in here. Don’t worry our color blocked bentwoods are safe. Since we only have 1 table right now, our Eames have just been sadly hanging around. We thought they would look better with this version of our Christmas table. You can see how we used the pink in our last Christmas tablescape.

You probably noticed the single (non painted) bentwood in the center. We only have 5 Eames which was a terrible move on our part when we purchased them via Craigslist. We needed 6 chairs, so the bentwood made a great stand in. Also the wood tone really helps with the whole rustic, traditional-ish thing.

I don’t think we’ve shown the chandelier all lit up, so there you go! The table is ready for Christmas. Good thing because literally nothing else around here is.

  1. I’m with Willard on this. Well, he still looks skeptical but I think it’s perfectly festive. I also like that in the second to last picture, it appears one of the deer shoved her head in the wine glass and drank all of the wine. I just named her Amber.

I noticed that last night and nearly wrote something!! I didn’t in attempt to find my soul mate. You win Michelle. I think that table setting has my name on it too. So fitting.

  2. That chandelier is out-of-town perfect for this holiday table. It’s like a snow globe over your food!

GORGEOUS! i love the plaid and love the rustic simple touches! and the rug. and you. but where are the bentwoods????

    • Amber says:

OH my gosh I totally forgot to mention that. This is why you need to proof my blog! I thought the Eames looked better. There is one bentwood that doesn’t have the color blocked treatment on it since we needed 6 chairs and only have 5 Eames. A fact I will continue to kick myself about.

lovely! those deer are just standing on that table, yelling, “it’s christmas!” at me, and I’m very happy about that.

I knew you’d love the brass animal addition. I need to find lots of tiny brass animals like you have to scatter on the table. I currently have an elephant, squirrel and 2 unicorns. Doesn’t really make for a cohesive theme.

Oooo. Good thing you linked your old posts. I love that book Christmas tree!

The deer are the perfect touch. So fitting with the greenery!

I have yet to run across those Christmas trees in my boxes. I might have tossed them because they are so easy to make. The deer stay out year around, but they definitely shine during Christmas!

  6. I freaking love every single thing down to the fact that you have a singular bentwood chair mixed in with the Eames.

    Seriously. To die for.

I don’t even have a dining room, but I dream of my future one look darn near identical to this. I’ll have to pin this post for holiday decorating inspiration if/when I ever get my dream dining room. <3

Oh dear Amber, how could you neglect the amazing turned legs on your table? Shame on you. I expect a full blog post on this in the near future!!! Warning: you will see similar turned table legs like this in the Stojanovich household — be prepared!!! #restorationhardwaregrandbalustertableordie #longlivevoluptuousturnedtablelegs

OH we’ve had the table for years. You will have to go our much older, failed attempt of a blog for info on that table. It’s been around longer than Ramona.

  8. How have I never seen your Eames chairs before?! I don’t remember them in your old house… now I feel like a really bad blog friend :( I did notice that right away though, that your bentwoods were MIA. Thanks for clarifying, because I legit was about to ask. haha. (I am crazy.) I really dig the simple though. Anything else would look out of place. The table cloth is so pretty. I love. Invite me over plz.

  9. I am proud to say I ate at that table and it was awesome. That chandelier is even more gorgeous in person. Such a beautiful table Amber. I just love it!!

  10. Perfection! I love those brass deer! I need to stop by Trader Joe’s or some place similar for some greenery since cactus needles aren’t really the look I’m going for 😉

  11. Looks awesome! Willard still looks a little angry though. I think he needs some eggnog 😉

    • Amber says:

Yeah he’s always a little pissy. I’d say he better watch it before I replace him with someone else, but he just looks so dang good in there.

  12. I’m with Willard. The brass deer are perfecto. And bonus – they look like they are going to clean up all the extra food scraps. Because, you know, grazers?
