Client Work: Family Gameroom

In case anyone needed a reminder that I’m a realtor (and a super fun one at that), here’s some client work I did for one of my buyers which is like the best perk ever. Read: send all your friends to me to buy/sell.
Room-LayoutPreviously this 2nd living area was used as a workout space. My clients wanted a gameroom/media room since they have teenagers. The room is L-shaped, so the goal was to maximize seating for when the kids have friends over. Since it’s so rectangular, adding a table to function as bar behind the couch pulls the room in and gives you a place to munch on nachos. They had a custom built-in to hold the tv, components, and movies.

Gameroom

1. Couch – It’s also a sofa bed and such a steal of a deal.

2. Table – This would be a custom build, but easily DIY-able with this tutorial (obviously different dimensions to fit the couch and skinnier like a bar) but with a base like this.

3. Counter stools – Comfortable chairs pulled up to the bar, watching a movie, eating popcorn or other movie food. Is there anything better?

4. Coffee table – This would work great for game night too.

5. White cabinet – Hide the snacks and drinks in this cabinet. The price and the industrial look are a good call for a snack bar in a gameroom.

6. Jurassic Park Poster – The daughter mentioned that she liked Jurassic Park. Etsy is the place to find awesome and reasonable movie posters which is a must for a movie room.

7. Throw / Pillow 1 / Pillow 2 / Pillow 3 – I wanted to stick with black and white accents, but gamerooms have a way of being colorful and busy all on their own! Plus dark and moody seems like a movie atmosphere.

The gameroom is definitely the place to shop for budget friendly pieces. To keep it from looking cheap, use different sources to purchase your items. The coffee table and custom bar bring some sophistication and warmth to the space. The furniture provides a neutral base that will allow them to layer in what they already have along with being flexible for however they want the room to be decorated in the future.

  3. I immediately switched over to see where that throw came from. It is so good!! I love all your picks. Love how you are pulling the room in by placing the bar chairs with the table behind the sofa. Any client would be so lucky to have you for their realtor :)

Yeah whoever thought of that was genius. I think I’m going to do that if we ever get to our media room. (I can make bold claims like this because I will never get to that room. Ever.)

I feel like that was my stroke of genius otherwise known as stumbling upon something really cool on the internet and reusing it for this space.

This looks great. I love the snack storage. and that bar idea. I once saw a similar set up behind a sofa to use as a desk and I though that was pretty smart, too.

Ill be sending over my house plans so you can help me figure out how to lay out our living room. What? You weren’t my realtor. *hands over ears*
