I had planned to have a Fashion Friday post up for y’all today. Unfortunately we’ve been dealing with a very sick dog. Our black lab Sara is really getting into the country life and loves exploring with my parents’ beagle. She started hobbling yesterday. Her leg was swollen, and she had several cuts (including one on her ear which is why it looks so mangey in this pictures).
I immediately took her to the vet. They started an IV and antibiotics and kept her overnight. She will most likely stay there this weekend. We are hoping that surgery won’t be needed but won’t know until probably later today based on how she is responding to treatment.
The vet isn’t sure if she was attacked by something or maybe got caught up in a barbed wire fence. The good news is her blood work is pretty good, and we acted early.
Sorry to start your weekend off on a sad note, but I’ll keep you posted via social media. We are headed out of town this weekend which is awful timing but can’t be rescheduled since baby 2 will be here all too soon.

She is such a sweet dog. I know if she was attacked she probably just tried to run away. She is not aggressive in the least bit.
Me too. Her swelling was down about 50% when we checked on her Friday morning. She was walking a lot better too. She just needs more meds and time.

She looked a lot better Friday. The vet thinks time and continuing with her meds is the best thing right now.
Okay, this is SO heartbreaking. I hope she gets better soon. Our dogs are very much family members, and it’s so hard to see things like this happen. Indy and Buster especially send their love xo
Thanks Kenz. She was getting better. We were schedule to pick her up today, but she took a turn for the worst. They did a more aggressive treatment. We will see what tomorrow holds.
She will be. We kept her pretty distracted today. I will take her to see Sara in the morning if they say she’s well enough.
