Vintage Rug and Shameless Pandering

This weekend we were consumed with birthday party prep for the princess which we can’t wait to share with you. (It wasn’t as over the top as last year, but we’ve still got some greatness lined up.)

Even with all the craziness when this beauty popped up on my facebook feed from Noteworthy Home, I drooled and dreamed and then quickly jumped all over going to see it. I mean come on priorities.

This my friends is 9 x 12 vintage Persian rug goodness. We love vintage rugs. It’s just so difficult to find large vintage rugs. If you do find one, be prepared to spend a ton of money. So want to take a guess how much we paid for it?

Wrong. We paid under $450. *Insert shocked emoji face here.* Check out how much an 8 x 10 goes for on etsy. Major steal right?

It’s in near flawless condition but has great wear to it. True we are just going to put it in our storage unit until this home building business is over, but oh when it’s over watch out. We haven’t really decided on where to put this, but we are thinking master? or formal dining? or great room? I mean we can’t really go wrong with this rug.

All around pretty good weekend score for the Wills without even really trying.

2013LampsPlusBestHomeBlog

So now that we’ve warmed you up with a sexy vintage find, it’s time for some shameless pandering. We have been nominated in the Lamps Plus Best Home Blog Contest in the DIY category. We really need you to vote for us. Go to the Lamps Plus Facebook page and vote (every 24 hours…pretty please) for Wills Casa.

You could win a $500 Lamps Plus shopping spree just for voting…unless you don’t vote Wills Casa. Then you will be awarded no points and may God have mercy on your soul. Alright so I made that last part up.

Go VOTE for us!

  2. gahh we’ve been on the rug hunt. this one is gorgeous and WHAT A STEAL! and congrats on your nomination!

Thank you! Rugs are always the most difficult things! Seems like it’s hard to find the just the right pattern and color combination especially when you are on a budget. We have been eyeing a similar rug on overstock for years, so we didn’t have to think too much about buying this one. Good luck with the rug hunt.

‘We have been eyeing a similar rug on overstock for YEARS…”. Love it. So Nick and Amber. I love that you guys are such power shoppers. I’m not worthy…I’m not worthy…

        • Amber says:

It takes huge restraint to see something and not pull the trigger for years! It was the price point though. I just kept thinking I could find something cheaper. Plus I hated to spend so much for a rug when I knew we weren’t going to stay in our last house for much longer.

  3. That rug is beyond gorgeous and yes- what a steal! One of those with you for the rest of your lives pieces for sure. And I’m voting!!

    • Amber says:

I can give it to my grandchildren!! Haha so weird so say as I’m rocking Beckett. Hopefully the kids won’t be too hard on it. Maybe putting it in the master is the best choice! Thanks for voting!

  4. This rug is seriously gorg. Just beautiful!

    • Amber says:

I know I’m tempted to just take it up to the house to try it out except that it’s insanely dusty and is overall a terrible idea.

  5. Anu says:

That’s an awesome rug! What a great find. Congrats on the nomination. I’m off to vote now. :)

  6. Beautiful find! I am searching for a new rug for our living room and it’s hard to find the perfect one at a decent price.

    • Amber says:

I think finding a rug with the right pattern, size, and at the right price is probably the hardest decorating challenge ever. It’s like the stars have to align to get exactly what you want!

  7. LOVE that rug! We used to have a similar one, but, alas, it fell victim to our accident prone elderly dog. He was lucky to be such a great dog! I tried to vote, but I can’t see where the voting happens after I follow the link?

    • Amber says:

Sad for the rug and the dog. Poor guy. It’s hard when they get to that stage.

Looks like voting doesn’t start until 10 PT. It will be posted on their facebook page. Sorry to send you there early. The info I had didn’t give a time frame just that it started today.

  8. That is a beautiful rug. I can’t believe that price. That is awesome!!!

I clicked over to fb to vote, but I can’t find where to do it. Can you give some more instructions? Do you want us to like one of their posts?

    • Amber says:

Thank you! I just noticed they won’t have it up yet. I know voting starts today, but the info I have doesn’t have a time frame on it. Looks like Lamps Plus just posted to Caroline that voting opens at 10 PT. Sorry to make everyone jump the gun!

    • Ok I voted. BTW they are running an illegal FB contest. They are making it dependent on you liking their page. That is against FB policy. They can have their whole page deleted for that and lose all their followers…

      • Amber says:

What really! I didn’t know you had to like the page. I had already liked them, so I guess I wouldn’t have known! Is that different than hosting a giveaway and having people like your page?

        • It depends how you word it. You can’t make entry dependent on a Facebook like, but you can do the thing where a Facebook like gives you an extra “ticket”, but isn’t necessary for an entry. If FB finds out, they have been known to just take your FB page down which will delete all your followers.
Here I was re-directed to a page when I tried to vote that said: This contest is only for our Facebook fans with an arrow to the Link button and I coudn’t get to the voting before I clicked Like. BTW I think FB also frowns on clipart on your pages that have an arrow to the Like button. Oh well… I am sure Lamps Plus has weighed the consequenses… ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. Congrats on the nomination! Love that rug and unbelievable price!

  10. mark @nwrugs says:

beautiful Bohkara style rug – and a Fabulous price. It’s one of the oldest designs and is often called ‘Elephant Footprint.” The “circles” look like elephant footprints, don’t they. Congrats.

  11. Gorgeous! So jealous of the vintage finding gift you guys possess haha Congrats on the nomination!

  12. Lovely rug and my vote is in. I can’t believe that I’ve never seen any of the blogs in the other categories. There are so many great ones!

    • Amber says:

Thanks Janet! Yes the blogs that are nominated are insanely good. We are really humbled to be considered! Also hope we don’t get killed in the polls! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. ERMAGERD! That rug. Like, it has stolen all my words. It is so beautiful. I am stunned into silence, which (let’s be honest) rarely happens. What a steal! I can’t wait to see it in your house. AND… ahem, I am really needing to see an update on where your house is. I’m too emotionally invested at this point. :)

    • Amber says:

I know! It’s like my 3rd child or something!

We’ve been so bogged down to update on that whole building thing. It also seems like there isn’t much to say! Read: lots of boring stuff happening.

  14. Congrats on the nomination!
I love vintage rugs and my parents have a lot of them. I actually grew up with one that looked just like this one but my parents paid an arm and a leg for every one of them. Love this one and it makes me think of home.

    • Amber says:

Thank you! Are you secretly wanting your parents to downsize and send some of their rugs your way? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I couldn’t believe we got it for such a steal!

  15. I need you to know that the fact that you’re party-planning and rug-buying and house-building while having a newborn is making me feel like my life has been completely useless. It takes me like a year after the birth of each child to even go to the grocery store. Also I love that rug.

    • Amber says:

Well if it makes you feel better I stayed in bed the majority of the day today! The first year after birth is definitely a lockdown year. You really can’t do anything. I’m just trying to take advantage of this time since Beckett pretty much just sleeps and eats. I have no faith in my ability to get anything done once he gets mobile. Can I grocery shop online? Is that a thing?
